365 Jay Street Firehouse

365 Jay Street in downtown Brooklyn is an old firehouse that was eventually converted into low cost housing. Our portion of this overall restoration (interior and exterior) was to recreate the Romanesque archway, upper band course, and doorway lintel whose ornament was nearly extinct from the severe degradation of the brownstone detail and substrate. This building, while being well known in its busy downtown community, now has the added distinction of being well known in the circles of the restoration industry, namely as one of the five winners of the Lucy G. Moses award for restoration excellence in 2015.
